Nancy C. Hovanes, MBA, SPHR, QKA - Founder and President

Nancy Hovanes is President and founder of Oak Creek Partners LLC.  She has extensive experience in business, human resource and benefits consulting and has worked with a variety of organizations, public and private, entrepreneurial, and for- and not-for profit.

Ms. Hovanes is also an instructor at the University of St. Thomas Adult Education Program, teaching the Retirement Planning Section of the CFP Program with Kaplan Schweiser.

Prior to founding Oak Creek Partners LLC, Nancy was Sr. Vice President and Managing Consultant of a national consulting firm which acquired a consulting firm she previously founded, Marquette Group LLC.  Prior to that, Nancy was Vice President of Human Resources and Organizational Development for Caribou Coffee.  Earlier in her career, Nancy served in a variety of human resource roles, primarily for professional services firms.

Nancy holds an MBA from the University of St. Thomas and a BA, magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota.  She is a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), the highest certification in human resources, and is a Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) through the American Society of Pension Actuaries.

Ms. Hovanes currently serves as a Director of the Board of Marcy Holmes Neighborhood Association and Director of the Board of the Northeast Minneapolis Farmers Market.  She was previously Treasurer of the Board of the Winslow House Condominium Association, Vice President of the Board of the Arroyo Seco Community Association, and Vice Chair of the State Capital Credit Union board.  While at the credit union, Nancy chaired the CEO Search and Policy Committees.  The selected CEO recently received the “40 under 40” award, honoring the top 40 individuals under the age of 40 in Minneapolis/St. Paul Businesses.

Nancy is a frequent speaker on human capital strategies, employee incentives and qualified plans.  She has chaired human resource conferences nationally and internationally, and has experience in employee survey techniques and reward and recognition programs.

Ann Bares, MBA

Managing Partner, Altura Consulting Group LLC

Ann Bares is the Managing Partner of Altura Consulting Group, LLC. She has over 20 years of human resource experience, including 17 years of consulting in the areas of compensation and performance management.

Ann has worked with a variety of client organizations in auditing, designing and implementing executive compensation plans, base salary structures, variable and incentive compensation programs, sales compensation programs, and performance management systems. She has extensive experience in developing training and communication programs to support compensation and performance management initiatives. Her clients have included public and privately held businesses, both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, early stage entrepreneurial organizations and larger established companies.

Prior to founding Altura Consulting Group, Ann was a compensation consultant with RSM McGladrey, Inc., Riley, Dettman & Kelsey LLC, and Watson Wyatt Worldwide. Early in her career, she spent several years in staff compensation and human resources at Bankers Life & Casualty Company and Northern Telecom.

Ann has an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA from the College of St. Catherine. She served on the Board of Directors of the Twin Cities Human Resources Association and is an active member of WorldatWork (formerly American Compensation Association). Ann is a frequent speaker to industry and professional groups, and has authored several articles, on the topics of compensation and performance management. She is a regular instructor for the University of Minnesota's Employer Education Services, and has served as adjunct faculty at Concordia University.

Peggy Andrews, MA, SPHR

Peggy Andrews has been in the human resources field for 15 years, serving in internal human resource capacities and as an external human resource consultant. Peggy specializes in applying human resource strategies to business needs and establishment of internal systems. She has planned and executed hundreds of projects.

She has worked with numerous organizations, leading projects in turnaround and crisis situations, establishing strategies for retention and development of human capital, and developing work-life initiatives. She also specializes in leadership development programs, both design and facilitation.

In addition to consulting, Peggy has served in a variety of human resource roles, including leadership positions at Minnesota Technology, Inc. Total Solutions Group and American Express Financial Advisors.

Peggy holds a Masters degree in Human Development from St. Mary's University and a BA in Family and Consumer Science from Ambassador University in Pasadena, California. Peggy is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources.

Peggy is active in community affairs and teaching. Her professional activities include serving as adjunct faculty at the University of Minnesota and St. Thomas University. She is also a board member at Sunny Hollow Montessori School, where she chaired the Executive Director Search Committee.
